The Ecumenical Parish of Walton was created in 1985 in a partnership between the Anglican Church, the United Reformed Church, the Baptist Church, the Roman Catholic Church and the Methodist Church.
At that time there were two existing Anglican churches in the area, at Milton Keynes Village and in Wavendon. These are now home to ecumenical congregations. A new church building, funded jointly by the participating denominations, was built in the centre of the new development at Kents Hill. The site for Christ the King Church was made available by the Milton Keynes Development Corporation, and work started in 1991 on the building, which was commisioned and dedicated in September 1992.
