Registration as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
All LEPs (and other charities) are required to be registered with the Charities Commission by 31st March 2021. For 10 years the Sponsoring Denominations have been working to produce an agreed model constitution for a Charitable Incorporated Organisation which all 850 LEPs in England and Wales are able to use. This document is now ready, and as Walton Churches Partnership, what we need to do over the next few months is to 'fill in the blanks' and formally adopt it. The 'blanks' are mostly factual things, but also include some key decisions like the number of trustees of the new charity.
There are 3 documents below, to be downloaded and read:
- a summary of why we need to do this and what its benefits will be (though do note that we have to register in some form, so doing nothing is not an option!)
- the current draft of the Constitution - the text in black is what has already been agreed by the denominations, the bits in green are the 'unique' bits we have drafted
- the current draft of the Partnership Agreement - this is a second mandatory document for LEPs which accompanies the Constitution.
If you have any questions, please direct them to one of the clergy team in the first instance.
The following documents relate to our AGM which takes place on 15th October 2020 at 7.30pm via Zoom. Details of the Zoom link are available via the staff team and the regular church e-mails. Please note that the original April date was delayed because of the pandemic.
Details of our latest Safeguarding Policy - including our new policy for working safely with young people online - are available on the Safeguarding Page here. This will be received at the AGM.
Information relating to individual congregations can be found on their websites - follow the links on the church pages here. Owing to the disruptions of 2020, some have been able to collate full reports, others have not been able to do so. We will share highlights and updates across the Partnership at the meeting.
